Rays of Hope Camps

Rays of Hope camps combine education and fun activities to help children and youth who have recently experienced loss to understand and manage their grief.

Community Health Professionals offers day-camps each summer in Van Wert and Defiance for bereaved youths, ages 6-17 from throughout northwest and west-central Ohio. The camp experience is intended to provide opportunities for friendships, counseling and learning about the normalcy of grief.

At Rays of Hope, kids learn through physical activities and team-building challenges, arts and crafts, games, and discussions. Most importantly, they support each other and learn that they are not alone in their grief!

Groups are divided into age-appropriate groups and assigned a hospice social worker to lead the group's activities and discussions.

The cost to families is minimal and no one is denied due to financial need.
