Music Ministry

"Where Words Fail, Music Speaks"
~ Hans Christian Andersen

Community Health Professionals’ Hospice Musician uses live music in the care for people living with terminal illness. The addition of music to hospice services has been shown to increase quality of life, alleviate spiritual suffering, provide pain management, and promote relaxation in end of life care.

Music reaches deep into the human spirit and can evoke a wide range of emotions. The message of a song can often evoke a response even in some cases of advanced dementia or other loss of mental faculties. Patients often respond to special songs they've hidden in their hearts many years ago.

The hospice musician uses universal, well-known songs from many different styles of music to provide solace and to create an avenue for patients to express themselves in situations "where words fail."

CHP’s Music Ministry is offered as part of our interdisciplinary, palliative care team and can be provided wherever patients reside: in the home, at nursing and assisted living facilities or at our inpatient hospice centers.

The musician is also available to provide music ministry at area nursing facilities, churches and groups. For more information, please contact us.
